Holley Pokora, the principle and owner of Idea Design, grew up in a local real estate family. She spent her childhood going to house showings after school and clipping the multiple listings from the newspaper. Real Estate and Buyer Behavior were family discussion topics for as long as she can remember. After graduating from Penn State with a BS in Marketing, Holley spent 15 years in sales and marketing to Fortune 500 clients.
Beginning in 2001, Holley was a partner with IQP (div. of Macallister Group Architects) out of Plymouth Meeting, Pa. She spent 6 1/2 years developing and managing model home interior projects and clubhouse projects. Some of her clients included: Tropea Development Corp., Iacobucci Homes, Michael Anthony Homes, Sparango Builders, Segal & Morel, Short Brothers, and Manufacturers' Golf & Country Club. Holley handled the entire design project: presentation, construction meetings, selections, installation and then often moving and "re-purposing" the furnishings for a new project.
"There is nothing more rewarding than taking an empty space and watch it come to life with furnishings, color, and accessories" she explains. "Identifying the market and using appropriate furnishings for the right buyer is what I keenly focus on. Space planning is essential - I measure everything three times. Having a balance of positive and negative space is what the brain (and the eye) unconsciously respond to. When I can transform a room and the client says it's taken their breath away, then I know I've done my job."
